'Without a shadow of a doubt!' - Conor Coady hits back at Jordan Henderson over cheeky Liverpool vs Everton question

After hearing Jordan Henderson's question, Everton defender Conor Coady said he was "going to go back there and sit down with him."

England defender Conor Coady hilariously hit back at Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson after he was asked if he was a ‘blue or red.’

Coady arrived at Goodison Park in the summer on a season-long loan from Wolves as Everton manager Frank Lampard sought to bolster his defensive options.

The 29-year-old centre-back, who has made over 300 appearances for Wolves, has started in 14 of Everton’s 15 Premier League matches this season.

Coady was named in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for the World Cup in Qatar, but the Wolves loanee was an unused sub for the matches against Iran and the USA.

Henderson, who came off the bench in England’s lacklustre 0-0 draw with the USA, couldn’t resist poking fun at Coady ahead of the Three Lions’ clash with Wales.

Speaking in a video posted on England’s social media channels, the Three Lions midfielder said: “Conor, we are all England here.

“But what I really want to know is are you blue or red?”

A grinning Henderson broke out in laughter after the question, which prompted Everton man Coady to say that “without a shadow of a doubt” he was a blue.

Responding to Henderson, Coady said: “Do you know what, that is so poor from him.

“We have banter all the time and obviously, I’m playing at Everton. He knows, he knows, deep down. So, for him to come out there and ask that question.

“I’m blue. Of course, I’m blue. Without a shadow of a doubt and for him to say that, you know what, I’m going to go back there and sit down with him and have a coffee, and give him a bit.

“That’s nowhere near good enough from the big fella.”

Southgate’s side will ensure their place in the knockout stages of the World Cup if they secure a draw against Wales on Tuesday.

However, a win over Rob Page’s men would ensure that England finish top of Group B ahead of Iran and the USA.
