Graham Potter wants to recall one Chelsea loanee, who was frozen out of the team by Thomas Tuchel, to hand him another chance at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues had an entire summer planning under Tuchel, as players left the club and other arrived, with Todd Boehly spending big in his first transfer window as owner.

Boehly did want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo but that move didn't happen because the former manager wasn't keen, one reason the pair's relationship broke down, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining instead.

All the plans from the summer fell apart when the new owner then decided to sack Tuchel just weeks into the season, following the Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb.

However, it's expected that Potter will also be given a significant budget in January, in order to bring in his own players to work with.

Potter is also interested in working with one player that Tuchel didn't want at the club, with the former Brighton boss wanting to bring Callum Hudson-odoi back from his loan.

German outlet Bild claim that the forward, who moved to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer on a temporary deal, has a big fan in the new manager, and he even wanted to take him to the south coast, before his move to Germany.

Hudson-odoi made his debut for the first team in 2018 and quickly made a huge splash under Maurizio Sarri, leading to interest from Bayern Munich.

The west London club fought hard to keep him at Stamford Bridge then but his stock fell under subsequent managers and that was most true under Tuchel.

In one game the forward came on at half time but was substituted just 31 minutes later, with the manager accusing him of not having a good enough attitude or closing down enough.

He ended up being used as a wing back last season, so it's no wonder he wanted to leave the club in the summer.

Speaking to the Mail this week, Hudson-odoi said, "It was one of those difficult moments when you look at yourself and say, 'What am I doing wrong? Have I done anything wrong to not even be in the squad?'

"I would never say anything bad about Thomas, he was a good guy, a good manager. [But] the first game of the season, it was frustrating. Any footballer that isn’t in the squad would understand how frustrating it is.

"Regular football gives you consistency and the more games you play, the more consistent you become, the more form starts to kick in. You feel fresher, you feel better, you feel like… not that you’re getting treated fairly but that you’ve got the trust from the manager to push you and kick you on.

"You don’t want to be on the bench thinking, ‘Why am I not playing?’ And then it becomes weeks and weeks and the legs are rusty when you do play. The most important thing is consistent football. That’s what I’m getting here and it’s making me feel better."

It remains to be seen if he'll want to go back to take his chances under the new manager of he'll prefer to stay in Germany until the end of the season.
