Jadon Sancho makes Bundesliga history, no other player has ever managed it

Jadon Sancho makes Bundesliga history, no other player has ever managed it

Jadon Sancho write his name into the history books.

Jadon Sancho made Bundesliga history in Borussia Dortmund's game against RB Leipzig.

Dortmund suffered a bruising 4-1 defeat against Leipzig on Saturday.

But Edin Terzic's side took the lead at the Red Bull Arena thanks to a stunning goal from Sancho, who's on loan from Manchester United following his public dispute with manager Erik ten Hag.

In the 20th minute, he curled home a wonderful strike to open the scoring.

The goal brought up his third goal since his January loan move.

Leipzig hit back with four goals to secure all three points and to firm up their position in fourth place.

Despite Dortmund suffering defeat, Sancho made Bundesliga history.

He now has 40 goals in Germany's top flight, making him the highest-scoring Englishman in the Bundesliga.

He surpassed former Nottingham Forest and Arsenal winger Tony Woodcock, who enjoyed spells at FC Koln and Fortuna Koln.

On Instagram, he reflected on his achievement that he described as 'bittersweet'.

He wrote: "A result to reflect on... thank you for the travelling fans who came to support us today! A bittersweet moment also for breaking the English record goal scorer in the Bundesliga surpassing the legend Tony Woodcock!"

But Sancho may not hold onto the record for long as Harry Kane has already scored an impressive 35 Bundesliga goals since joining Bayern Munich last summer.

Kane, who joined the German giants from Tottenham for an initial £86 million, has three league games remaining this season to match or break Sancho's record of 40 goals.

The England captain bagged a brace in his side's 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Conversely, Sancho also has three games to increase his goal tally before returning to Man United at the end of the season.

His future is still up in the air ahead of the transfer window reopening this summer.
