The PFA Team of the Year was announced on Thursday night and Manchester City man Aymeric Laporte wasn’t impressed that he was left out.
During the PFA awards ceremony last night, the team consisting the best 11 performers from the 21/22 campaign was named, Liverpool dominated as six players from the club were included, in the shape of Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Thiago Alcantara, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.
Title winners City had three deserved inclusions in Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva and Kevin de Bruyne.
Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger and Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo took the remaining spots in the team.

There were some surprising omissions as the Premier League’s joint Golden Boot winner, Heung-Min Son was nowhere to be seen despite scoring 23 goals, with none of the 23 coming from the penalty spot.
Another surprise was the fact that the league winners only had three representatives in the team, something that has clearly irked City defender Laporte, who took to Instagram to make his case with a series of impressive statistics.
His first post was to show that he had the highest passing accuracy of any player in the 21/22 season with 94.8%, he then backed that up with a screenshot of the list of players who made the most completed passes, and yes, Laporte ranked top with 2767.
Moving on from passing to goals, Laporte scored four goals in the season, more than any other centre back within the Premier League.

And to round it off, he posted a picture showing that he is the record holder for most points in Premier League history after a player’s first 100 games.
Laporte also took to Twitter on Friday morning as he posted a GIF of Jose Mourinho's famous 'I prefer not to speak' moment, again cryptically referencing his omission from the Team of the Year.
His way of showing discontent on social media has gathered a lot of attention from fans.
One fan said: “Laporte deserves more respect both in and out of City’s fan base.”

Another one wrote: “Laporte was the best centre half in England last season, shocking that they’ve chosen not one but two LCBs over him.”
Laporte's team mate Phil Foden took home the PFA Young player of the Year for a second time whilst Liverpool's Mo Salah, who finished top of the goal scoring and assists charts deservedly won the PFA Player of the Year.
