A bunch of Australian football fans have been praised for helping clean up Federation Square following the Socceroos' World Cup defeat at the hands of Argentina.
Throughout the World Cup in Qatar, Melbourne's iconic Federation Square has played host to a Socceroos viewing party.
During Australia's historic 1-0 win over Denmark to advance to the Round of 16, the celebrations at Federation Square made headlines all around the world.
Even at 3:30am in the morning, supporters packed the streets and celebrated in unison in wild scenes.

The overall atmosphere looked electric and Australia's clash with Argentina was no different with flares and fireworks set off before the match even kicked off.
For the Socceroos, the match did spell an end to their magical run in the World Cup, but some fans made sure to stick around and help clean up Federation Square.
In the wake of the loss to Lionel Messi and Co, a bunch of Socceroos supporters were snapped staying behind to clean up the rubbish left on the ground, drawing similarities to the Japanese fans who cleaned up the stadiums in Qatar.

In footage posted onto Twitter by Channel 10, people could be seen picking up various cans and bottles and placing them into bin bags.
The caption said: "Inspired by Japanese fans in Qatar, these kings stuck around after full-time to help clean up what was a jam-packed @FedSquare."
ABC journalist Tim Callanan also tweeted about the heartwarming act.

While some praised the portion of Aussie fans for staying behind and lending a helping hands, others were quick to condemn those for leaving their rubbish on the ground.
Replying to Channel 10's video, one person said: "Well done. Can't stand littering. It's not hard to put your rubbish in a bin. We have to get better at this at all events."

As another added: "Why do people not take their rubbish with them? It has become un-Australian to leave our open spaces and stadiums as dumping grounds... do better people."
While a third noted: "About time Fans showed some 'appreciation ' and took their RUBBISH with them. Great Job by these peeps cleaning up, but it's not right that they clean up after other peoples' grotty behaviour."
