He's reportedly convinced Diego Simeone to sign him having held talks with the Atleti boss.
The prospect of Ronaldo plying his trade for the red and white side of Madrid would send shockwaves through football, considering his legendary spell at Real Madrid.
And the thought of Ronaldo appearing in Atleti's kit doesn't sit well with one particular fan.

Atleti supporter Jonatan Fernandez has told Ronaldo he cannot wear their shirt due to the 'disrespect' he's shown to their fanbase over the years.
"Cristiano Ronaldo cannot wear the Atletico Madrid shirt. It’s as simple as that," he told The Sun.
"A player who disrespected and laughed at the entire fanbase.
"A player who was the eternal enemy’s star striker for years, getting involved in numerous clashes with our club’s most loved players.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is the complete opposite of Atletico de Madrid’s philosophy."
Jonatan, though, acknowledges Ronaldo would score a lot of goals at the club - but claims the signing wouldn’t have been worth it.
"Sportingly speaking? He would bring a lot of goals. Nobody doubts that," he added.
"But in my opinion, winning isn’t everything."
