Inter Milan are set to table a contract offer to Arsenal and Manchester United target Marcus Thuram ahead of a potential move in the summer, according to reports.

Thuram represented France at the World Cup in Qatar, but was restricted to cameo appearances until the final against Argentina.

The forward replaced Olivier Giroud on 41 minutes as boss Didier Deschamps realised the need to make early changes, with France 1-0 down and struggling.

Although Angel Di Maria made it 2-0 to Argentina in the second half, Kylian Mbappe netted twice inside two minutes to level the scores. And as the game entered extra time, Thuram and fellow 41st-minute substitute Randal Kolo Muani played a major role in shifting the momentum towards France.

The nation would eventually lose the final on penalties, but the pair's contributions were still valuable.

At club level, Thuram's impressive performances for Borussia Monchengladbach resulted in a World Cup call-up. He has scored 10 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances this term, and provided three assists.

But his current contract expires next summer, meaning he is free to discuss a pre-contract with European clubs from January 1.

Monchengladbach could, therefore, decide to sell Thuram instead of allowing him to depart for free, with Fabrizio Romano claiming to GiveMeSport last month that he would not extend his stay at his current club.

But new reports suggest that decision may be taken out of their hands.

Inter Milan keen on Marcus Thuram

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are to table a five-year contract offer to bring Thuram to San Siro in the summer.

It is unclear whether they would be prepared to sign him in January if the opportunity arises, but Gazzetta also claim that Newcastle could submit a low bid.

Furthermore, Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with the 25-year-old, who was described as 'world-class' by Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer this year.

90min claim that both clubs have held talks with Thuram's representatives, but that it is Newcastle who are leading the race to bring him to the Premier League.

If Arsenal or United want to sign him, therefore, they may have to act quickly.
