Arsenal winning the title would be 'one of the greatest achievements in Premier League history'

The Gunners are currently two points clear of Manchester City.

Arsenal have been told winning the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City would be one of the best achievements in English top-flight history.

The Gunners are currently two points clear of Manchester City after a statement 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta's side finished fifth last season, with their poor form seeing them plummet to the bottom of the table early on.

Arsenal haven't won the league since 2004 when Arsene Wenger and his Invincibles side went a full campaign unbeaten.

TalkSPORT's Andy Goldstein thinks Arsenal managing to beat City's team of superstars to the title would be just as impressive.

"Don't shoot me down here," he told co-host and Arsenal supporter Darren Bent. "I think when you look at where you were at the beginning of last season after three games, you were bottom after three games with zero points, if you go on to win the Premier League this season, I think it'll be one of the greatest achievements in Premier League history."

Goldstein then went on to list the teams Arsenal will have contended with if they are indeed crowned champions in May.

They include City, with Erling Haaland up front, as well as Liverpool who are the only team to break City's stranglehold in the last five years.

He continued: "I'll tell you why. You've got Man City who are a juggernaut and they've got Haaland. When he's fit, wow, what a way to stop them. You've also got Liverpool. Now Liverpool aren't doing anything at the moment but in Man City and Liverpool, you have two teams that have been discussed as the greatest sides ever. I'm not saying they are or not, but they're in the conversation.

"You've got two big hitters right. Then an Arsenal side who haven't spent gazillions, I know they've spent money, but they haven't spent gazillions on one single player.

"From where they were to win the league above those two teams and the other big hitters, I believe it will be one of the greatest achievements in Premier League history."

Goldstein then clarified Leicester City's Premier League title win in 2016 is the best in history, while stressing Arsenal wouldn't be too far behind.
