Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira was brought to tears by a video call with his former Flamengo teammate David Luiz.
Luiz and Pereira were both part of the Flamengo side that were beaten by Brazilian rivals Palmeiras in the 2021 Copa Libertadores final.
It was a particularly devastating defeat for Pereira, who was at fault for Deyverson's extra-time winner in a 2-1 victory for Palmeiras.

After the loss, Pereira - who was on loan at Flamengo from Manchester United last season - vowed to remain with the Brazilian club until he had won them another Copa Libertadores - the South American equivalent of the Champions League.
"You can count on me, I'll stay here until we win the next one," he told a fan group at the time.
But that would not be the case, with Pereira instead joining newly-promoted Fulham on a permanent deal from United in the summer.

Flamengo would get another opportunity to win the Copa Libertadores in the 2022 final on Saturday and this time they made no mistake, beating another Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense.
Brazil international Gabigol scored the only goal of the game to secure Flamengo their third title.
After the match, Pereira shared an emotional video call with Luiz.

"Very proud to be part of this team," he wrote on social media.
"Until my last minute I gave life for these colors!"
Pereira has impressed since joining Fulham from United in a deal thought to be worth around ÂŁ10m.
