Sky Sports F1 pundit 'infuriated' with Max Verstappen after Brazilian GP victory

Sky Sports F1 pundit 'infuriated' with Max Verstappen after Brazilian GP victory

Max Verstappen won from 17th on the grid in Brazil.

Sky Sports presenter and former F1 driver Karun Chandhok has been left 'infuriated' with Max Verstappen following his wet weather masterclass in Brazil.

Verstappen was a cut above the rest in Sao Paulo as he cruised from 17th on the grid to take his first win in 10 races for Red Bull.

The win puts him in touching distance of his fourth consecutive world title as Lando Norris tumbled down the order from 1st to 6th leaving the gap at 62 points.

During the conclusion of the race, regular Sky Sports pundit, Chandhok praised Verstappen for 'making a statement' with his dominant display in the wet.

“Well, he’s making a statement, isn’t he? Another fastest lap and his lead is now over 17 seconds which is the same number as the position he started in,” Chandhok said via The Mirror.

“That’s a real statement drive. He doesn’t need to win, you get the same points if you finish one second ahead of 18 as he is now but this is a statement that he’s trying to make."

However, the former driver made reference to Verstappen's antics in Mexico, stating that Verstappen doesn't need to drive dirty due to his immense talents.

“This in some ways is the infuriating thing about those moments of road rage that we have seen in places like Mexico. He’s got more god-given talent to drive a race car in his little finger than most other drivers that have ever been in Formula 1," he explained.

“That’s why it drives you mad when you see those moves from Max which are on the edge of fairness and you just think, you don’t need to do that, you are an utterly brilliant racing driver and that’s the one we want to see more often and it’s on full display to the world today.”

Verstappen said ahead of the race in Brazil that he won't change his aggressive driving style and insisted he knows what he's doing before raising three fingers to signify his three world championships.
