New angle of horror Monaco Grand Prix crash emerges as photographer left injured

The Monaco Grand Prix was red-flagged during the first lap after a huge accident.

New footage of the horror Monaco Grand Prix crash which left a photographer injured has emerged.

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most historic and prestigious races in Formula 1 history. However, in recent years, the event has often been criticised due to the lack of excitement as the Circuit de Monaco is famed for being extremely difficult to overtake.

On Sunday, the Grand Prix was off to a chaotic start as the race was red-flagged after a huge crash involving Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Haas drivers Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg.

Perez was the leading car of the trio before being sent spinning by Magnussen. As a result, the Mexican’s car collected Hulkenberg's Haas on its way into the barriers.

Now, new footage of the horror crash has circulated on social media. You can watch the footage below.

Although all three drivers came away without an injury, one photographer was not so lucky.

As reported by The Mirror, a photographer was taken to the medical centre.

F1’s governing body, the FIA later confirmed that the photographer had ‘no open wounds’ and was released after checks.

The stewards also investigated the crash but decided no action was necessary.

However, Perez questioned the decision when speaking after the race. He said: “I lost a position to one of the Alfas [Sauber, sic], and obviously, it’s lap one, it’s just important if you’re not in the right position, automatically you’re going to end up losing.

“So I was getting out of the corner, basically, if you see my onboard, there is no point where you see Kevin.”

Perez continued: “I was just pretty surprised that he kept it flat at that point, because it was just very unnecessary, we had a lot of damage.

“We had a very dangerous incident and also very disappointed that it didn’t get investigated, because it was a massive incident. My car is completely destroyed and I have a lot of damage. It’s very, very frustrating but I trust my team, it hasn’t been a straightforward weekend but we will come back very strong.”

Hometown hero Charles Leclerc led from start to finish as the Ferrari star won his home race for the first time in his career.
