Max Verstappen 'in talks' with shock F1 team as Red Bull future takes another twist

Max Verstappen has been linked with a move away from Red Bull Racing.

Reigning Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has been linked with a shock move away from Red Bull Racing.

After a fine start to the 2024 season, Verstappen has found it tough in recent weeks.

The Dutchman has not tasted victory since winning the Spanish Grand Prix on June 23.

Since then, the likes of George Russell, Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri have all won races whilst Verstappen has only managed to get on the podium on one occasion.

Now, with the summer break ongoing, there have been reports linking Verstappen with a move away from Red Bull.

Earlier in the year, it was confirmed that chief designer Adrian Newey will leave the team, which has led to doubts over Verstappen’s future.

As reported by Italian news outlet Autosprint, a deal has been agreed for Newey to join the Aston Martin F1 team.

It is believed that the package has been agreed between both parties and an announcement could be made in September.

In addition to Newey, the report also claimed that Aston Martin boss Lawrence Stroll wants to lure Verstappen to the Silverstone-based team.

The Dutchman's future has been a constant topic this season, with Mercedes also linked with the 26-year-old due to the upcoming departure of Hamilton to Ferrari.

When asked about his future after Red Bull’s recent struggles, Verstappen said: “I don't think that's how Formula One works where then suddenly you could say 'Well, bye guys!' It's not how it works.

“I've got a long contract with the team, I'm very happy where I'm at and, like I said before, we are focusing already on next year with things that we can implement on the car. So, I guess that should say enough of where I'm driving next year.”

F1 will return in two weeks’ time with the Dutch Grand Prix, which will take place at Circuit Zandvoort on Sunday August 25.
