Martin Brundle has finally responded after being involved in an awkward moment with Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.
Capaldi, who recently returned from a lengthy break from touring, was in attendance at the Marina Bay Circuit to watch fellow Brit George Russell of Mercedes claim victory from pole position.
Prior to the race, he performed at the Padang Stage as part of the packed entertainment schedule around the event.
He then made his way to the track while Brundle was doing his usual 'Grid Walk' for Sky Sports' coverage.

As he does before every race, Brundle had brief chats with a slew of drivers, officials and celebrities - including Capaldi.
However, Brundle dropped a couple of clangers - first mistaking Capaldi's older brother Anthony for the 28-year-old - walking up to him and saying "Lewis, wonderful to see you".
Anthony, wearing a McLaren cap, then replied, "Martin I'm his brother", leading to an apology and a brief interview with the pair of siblings.
Yet when wrapped up, Brundle left Capaldi hanging as he extended his hand out. The former Williams driver was completely oblivious and had to quickly move on from the live and chaotic segment as the national anthem was about to commence.

With the camera still on him, Capaldi proceeded to shake his own hand and said, “I’ll hold that then".

Capaldi, who said he was a "big fan" of Brundle, reacted to being pied, taking to X to quote a video of his snub and writing "b***hed by Brundle".
Brundle continued to do his job of providing analysis of the race as Russell took first place and McLaren claimed the constructors' championship.
But on Monday morning, he felt the need to address the incident - explaining what happened for him to commit what he called a "cardinal sin".
Revealing he "had no idea" of the handshake offer, Brundle issued an apology to Capaldi, who he hopes to see again on the grid.

On his official X account, Brundle wrote: "Sincere apologies Lewis, I turned around to the camera with an urgent 3 second count going on in my ears to wind up for the national anthem. Had no idea you were trying to shake my hand. A cardinal sin on my part which I hope to put right one day. Hope you enjoyed F1."
