Lando Norris drops new three-word comment on Max Verstappen post after 'luck not talent' dig at Brazilian GP win

Lando Norris drops new three-word comment on Max Verstappen post after 'luck not talent' dig at Brazilian GP win

Lando Norris’ title hopes are now all but over after a dismal weekend in Brazil.

Lando Norris has commented on Max Verstappen’s social media post after his controversial ‘luck not talent’ dig on the back of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

On Sunday, Verstappen showed why he is about to become a four-time Formula 1 world champion as he produced a stunning drive to go from 17th place on the grid to win at Interlagos.

After the race, Norris received heavy criticism for his comments about Verstappen’s win.

The McLaren driver said: “That’s life sometimes. you take a gamble (waiting for a red flag for a ‘free pitstop’), it’s paid off for them. it’s not talent, it’s just luck”

On Monday night, it was spotted that Norris had commented on Verstappen’s Instagram post, he wrote: “Nice drive mate.”

When asked about his race in general, Norris said: “I have faith in the team in what they are saying and they have trust in me. It was just unlucky. I don't care about the hindsight side of things, that's luck for them, nothing more.

“They [Red Bull] got lucky on a rule that no one agrees with. Probably they agreed with it today but every driver has disagreed with it in the past.”

He continued: “Today it benefitted them, it could have benefitted us if we just stayed out, but that's a stupid thing to think of. Just a bit unlucky today, nothing more. Of course, disappointing. [Max] drove well. He got a bit lucky but that's life."

Meanwhile, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was highly impressed by Verstappen’s performance.

He said: “For him to have gone out there and won that race, it was an outstanding drive. He was patient and he attacked when he needed to. Truly an outstanding drive.

“I think in the wet and the dry he’s the best in the world at the moment. Max is invaluable. It's impossible to put a number on that. That was a champion's drive. The way he's driven, and even when we've had a difficult car this year, he's never given up. He's gone about collecting the points, he's always trying to get maximum out of the car.”

Verstappen will now have the chance to clinch his fourth F1 world title in Las Vegas at the end of the month.
