And Verstappen's reaction to the result while the pair both cooled off in the the break room reveals a lot about the pair's relationship and how we might expect the remainder of the season to pan out.
As they watched clips from the race in the break room, shown on Sky Sports, Verstappen jokingly said: "At one stage I thought he was going to lap me!"
Verstappen crossed the finish line nearly 21 seconds behind Norris, showing that there is currently a massive gap between the two driver's on track heading into a four week break until the United States Grand Prix.

Norris looked set to also take the fastest lap for the race, earning him another point, but after pitting for the third time in the race, Verstappen's former Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo instead had the fastest lap in what could be his last ever Formula One race.
Therefore, Norris scored a total of 25 points, gaining seven points on his championship rival Verstappen who was awarded 18 for finishing in second.
Verstappen further elaborated on what was labeled as a lonely race for the Dutchman in his post-race interview.

He said: "Yeah pretty much my race was by myself. I tried to do the best I could and manage my own pace to the end. The first stint was a bit difficult for us, quite a bit of tyre degradation.
"The second stint was a bit better, I was a bit more comfortable. On a weekend we knew we were going to struggle, P2 is a good achievement. Of course we are not happy with second. Now we need to improve more and more and that's what we will try to do.”
