Liam Lawson has finally broken his silence after he was replaced by Yuki Tsunoda at Red Bull following just two races with the team.
Lawson, 23, started the 2025 F1 season at Red Bull but endured a torrid two races at the manufacturer with his future recently being called into question by fans and the media.
Tsuonda, 24, was widely reported as the favourite to replace the New Zealander, which proved to be the case after Red Bull confirmed the switch on Thursday morning.
"It has been difficult to see Liam struggle with the RB21 at the first two races and as a result, we have collectively taken the decision to make an early switch,” said team principal Christian Horner in a statement released on Red Bull’s website.

“We came into the 2025 season, with two ambitions, to retain the World Drivers' Championship and to reclaim the World Constructors' title and this is a purely sporting decision.
“We acknowledge there is a lot of work to be done with the RB21 and Yuki’s experience will prove highly beneficial in helping to develop the current car. We welcome him to the Team and are looking forward to seeing him behind the wheel of the RB21.

“We have a duty of care to protect and develop Liam and together, we see that after such a difficult start, it makes sense to act quickly so Liam can gain experience, as he continues his F1 career with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, an environment and a Team he knows very well."

This comes after Lawson qualified 18th at the season’s opening weekend in Melbourne, Australia before crashing out of the race.
Last time out at the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai he qualified last for the sprint and the grand prix before finishing 14th and 12th.
He will now return to Red Bull’s sister team Racing Bulls. Meanwhile, Tsunoda has already had his say on the swap, but what does Lawson think?
Well, fans noticed that he quickly changed his bio on Instagram from ‘Formula One driver for Red Bull’ to ‘Formula One driver for @visacashapprb (Racing Bulls)’.
