
The FIA have confirmed that an 11th Formula One team will be joining the grid from 2026 in a historic statement.
In November, it was revealed that Formula One had reached an agreement in principle with General Motors (GM) to allow Cadillac to join as the 11th team for the 2026 season.
After the initial news broke, the FIA remained tight-lipped about if the deal had finally been closed, leaving fans to speculate whether or not we would see a record 22 drivers competing next year.

But now, the FIA and Formula One have spoken out to confirm the news that Cadillac will be join will join the F1 grid for what will be a historic season next year.
In an official statement on Friday afternoon, the FIA and Formula One officially confirmed that all of the final details had been ironed out and fans can expect to see Cadillac lining up alongside the likes of Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari in 2026.
A short joint statement read: "The FIA and Formula 1 can confirm that, following the completion of their respective sporting, technical and commercial assessments, the application by General Motors and TWG Motorsports to bring a Cadillac team to the FIA Formula One World Championship from 2026 has been approved."

Reacting to the news, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: "Today marks a transformative moment, and I am proud to lead the federation in this progressive step for the championship.
"The FIA Formula One Championship's expansion to an 11th team in 2026 is a milestone. GM/Cadillac brings fresh energy, aligning with the new FIA 2026 regulations and ushering in an exciting era for the sport.

It remains to be seen which drivers will join the grid as the first ever to represent Cadillac next season, advisor Mario Andretti, the US racing legend and former F1 champion, confirmed at the F1 75 event that the team hopes to have at least one American driver.
Former Marussia F1 Team sporting director Graeme Lowdon will return to the sport as Cadillac's team principal.
