Darts legend Phil Taylor has reacted to Luke Littler's victory over Michael van Gerwen in the PDC World Darts Championship final.

Darts legend Phil Taylor has reacted to Luke Littler's stunning victory in the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship final.

On Friday night, young darts sensation Littler blew away former champion Michael van Gerwen in the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, leading to some fans speculating that he is well on his way to becoming the greatest player of all time.

As it stands, Taylor is widely regarded as the best-ever darts player, having won a record 16 World Championships.

And now, the darts legend has spoken out to share his thoughts on the 17-year-old's stunning performance in the 2025 final.

Immediately after the match, Taylor took to social media platform X to praise Littler for the dominant performance on congratulate him on joining him in becoming a World Champion.

Reacting to Littler's win, Taylor wrote: "Huge Congratulations to @LukeTheNuke180 what a fantastic performance and now a Champion of the World. Brilliant."

After winning the the PDC World Championship an incredible 14 times, Taylor was forced to retire in 2023 after health problems ended his career following two years on the Senior Darts Tour.

Ahead of the start of the tournament, the 64-year-old tipped Littler to beat several of the other biggest names in the sport and go on to win the famous Sid Waddell trophy.

Speaking after his victory at the Alexandra Palace on Friday, Littler told Sky Sports: "I can't believe it. We both played so well.

"I've said in interviews that I needed to get off to a quick start tonight and that's what I did.

"Everyone dreams of lifting this trophy. You've got to get through a tough field. I can't believe it.

"I keep saying it but that first game against Ryan Meikle [in round two] was the one that really mattered, and throughout I've just settled.

"At 2-0 up [in the final set] I started getting nervous but I said to myself to just relax. I was throwing for the match and to get it over and done with then was special."
