Ever since Yan Couto signed for Manchester City in 2020, there were many that tipped him to become the club’s right-back in the future.
The youngster came to England with the reputation of being one of South America’s brightest prospects in the position.
Some even went as far as to claim that after Dani Alves, the Coritiba-born defender had the minerals to become Brazil’s next great right-back.

Joining the club in the same year as when Kyle Walker turned 30, it seemed like the natural course of action would involve Yan Couto succeeding the club legend one day.
However, all the recent rumblings around the Brazilian’s future have now suggested that the chances of an exit from the Etihad Stadium seem more likely at current.
It was revealed in June that the 20 year-old had decided to leave the Premier League champions, and had already informed club director of football Txiki Begiristain of this desire.

It was stated that his intention to bid farewell to the club stemmed from the disappointment at being sent out on loan to City Football Group-owned Girona, and S.C Braga in back-to-back campaigns.
To add to that, Couto expected Pep Guardiola not to integrate him into the first-team anytime soon.
While the highly-rated right-back was initially keen on returning to loan on Braga for a second successive season, his priority had seemingly switched to signing for a new club that challenges for titles on a permanent basis.

As per the latest information provided by journalist Jorge Nicola, Marseille are now showing an interest in signing Yan Couto.
It has been claimed that while City intend to send him on loan, the Ligue 1 giants are keen on a permanent deal for their defensive target.
Additionally, other clubs that are also reportedly eyeing his signature include the likes of Fenerbahce, Olympiacos, Girona, Basel, and Hull City.
A previous revelation had also suggested that Couto was also excited by the prospect of a return to Brazil, with the Sky Blues having offered him to Flamengo on loan.

Another loan spell that has also been mooted in the past by the club had involved the prodigy heading to an English side next term.
However, it seems likely that Yan Couto is enticed by the opportunity of signing for a new club on a permanent basis, instead of further honing his craft out on loan to contend for Manchester City’s right-back berth one day.
