It took just 55 seconds for the England international to open the scoring, after getting on the end of a pinpoint cross from Kevin De Bruyne.
However, it was the 27-year’s all-round performance that particularly caught the eye.
Widely criticised for being extremely risk-averse, the former Aston Villa captain showed signs of his older self, taking on players, beating defenders and showcasing his quick feet and skill.

Operating in his usual wide left role whilst also occupying central positions, Jack Grealish was perhaps the best player on the pitch from minute one.
However, the Premier League winner’s game almost came to an abrupt end in the 33rd minute, as Nathan Collins dangerously went flying in to the 27 year-olds midriff.
It came as no surprise to see the Wolves defender being immediately shown a straight red card by referee Anthony Taylor, following such a poor challenge.

As the English attacker stayed on the floor for a couple minutes in the aftermath of the dangerous attempt at regaining the ball, it seemed like the brutal contact may well have led to a serious injury.
Fortunately, Grealish got back up on his feet and went on to perform in brilliant fashion for the Sky Blues.
While Collins’ challenge was understandably criticised by several fans and pundits alike, his gesture after the contest certainly deserves credit.

As per a report by the Daily Mail, it has been revealed that Nathan Collins waited around 25 minutes after Jack Grealish’s celebrations and post-match interviews to apologise.
The Irishman is understood to have insisted that there was no malice in his challenge and he only had eyes on the ball.
Further details suggest that the City superstar is said to have accepted the youngster’s apology.
While there is no disputing Collins’ shocking challenge, one can certainly appreciate the sportsmanship between him and Grealish for putting the incident behind them after the match.
