Manchester City are reportedly in negotiations with RSC Anderlecht for left-back Sergio Gomez.
The Premier League Champions face the possibility of entering the new season with just two full-backs.
Pep Guardiola's side had been in pole position to land Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella, but after failing to successfully negotiate a fee, Chelsea have seemingly hijacked a move for the 24 year-old.

The Sky Blues begin their Premier League title defence away to West Ham on Sunday, and have been linked with the likes of Alex Grimaldo, Borna Sosa, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Raphaël Guerreiro in recent weeks.
However, the Blues' pursuit for a new left-back has taken a surprise turn, after suggestions from Belgium that City had entered negotiations with RSC Anderlecht.
The Belgian Pro League club, who had been managed by former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany until this summer, finished 3rd in the division last season.

Het Nieuwsblad report that it 'remains to be seen' whether the 21 year-old will be allowed to leave, despite the two parties being in negotiations.
The Spanish full-back made 49 appearances last season, scoring seven goals and assisting on 15 occasions.

Gomez made 34 Pro League appearances under Kompany during the 2021/22 campaign, and was directly involved in 17 goals.
Kompany left the Etihad Stadium for Anderlecht in 2019, after helping City to an unprecedented domestic quadruple, as the Blues won the FA Community Shield, Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Premier League.
The Belgian has since returned to England, becoming manager at Burnley this summer.

Anderlecht and City have been in negotiations in the past, with Kompany signing a host of players from the City Football Academy on loan, during his three year tenure in Brussels.
In April, Manchester City's Director of Football Txiki Begiristain was pictured at the Belgian Cup Final, featuring RSC Anderlecht.
Kompany's side suffered a 4-3 loss on penalties, but Gomez, who is now linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, played in that match.
