Manchester City legend Sergio Agüero believes the club’s sale of Raheem Sterling this summer was ‘strange’.
Agüero is no stranger to prolific forwards - his 259 career goals for City see him sit atop the club’s all time scoring charts.
And this summer, only twelve months after seeing Agüero leave the club, the Premier League champions waved goodbye to another high-scoring forward - Raheem Sterling.

The England winger registered a staggering 131 goals and 94 assists through 337 appearances in Sky Blue, and played a key role in countless trophy-winning seasons for the club - including five Premier League triumphs.
Despite his incredible scoring numbers for Pep Guardiola’s side, Sterling saw his game time decrease in recent seasons.
He became a bit-part player in the biggest matches for City, after having been one of the first names on the team sheets between 2017-2020.

As a result, the frustration became too much for the 27-year-old and he forced his way out of the club this summer, completing a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea for a reported fee of £47.5 million
Speaking on a recent Twitch stream, former City great Sergio Agüero revealed his thoughts on the club’s decision to let Sterling march through the exit door.
"I don't understand the sale of Sterling, there are times they (City) make strange decisions," the Argentine said, pulling no punches.
To compound that feeling, Agüero hinted at the idea that Sterling’s departure would have a negative impact on City newcomer, Erling Haaland, who made a £51 million move to the Etihad this summer.

The Argentine pointed out that the former Borussia Dortmund star may need some time to bed into life in the Premier League.
City believe that Haaland could be the missing piece in Guardiola’s side, as they continue to hunt for the club’s first ever taste of UEFA Champions League glory.
However, Haaland’s start at the club has been a rocky one, as Agüero had predicted, as the Norwegian was unable to get on the scoresheet in City’s 3-1 defeat to rivals Liverpool in the FA Community Shield last weekend.

The 21-year-old will have a chance to redeem himself however, as the Blues travel to East London on Sunday to take on West Ham.
With the Norway international tipped to become a key player for City and Guardiola, he will want to get off to a winning and goalscoring start.
In the same fixture last season, City struggled to convert some clear-cut opportunities in front of goal.
The signing of Haaland is expected to turn around them fortunes and the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva providing that service will only increase them chances.

He is also muted as the final piece of the jigsaw in City's pursuit of the Champions League, but that particular objective has continued to evade the Blues year-on-year.
