While Phil Foden’s rapid ascent is a reminder to many that Manchester City have maintained a keen eye on nurturing local talent into superstardom, this is not stopping the club from expanding their horizons to scour the globe to unearth plenty of rising gems.
Perhaps the most recent example of the aforementioned statement lies in the signing of Kayky from Fluminense - dubbed as ‘The next Neymar’ - who plays a central part for Manchester City's Elite Development Squad (EDS) and has already made his debuts in both the Premier League and the FA Cup.
While it has not been officially announced, Atletico Mineiro wonderkid Savinho also looks set to become a Manchester City player - which is an insight into how Pep Guardiola’s side and those in global scouting roles are anything but lax when it comes to looking for the next big thing.

Keeping that in mind, Manchester City have now seemingly set their sights on adding yet another wonderkid to their roster.
As per a report by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City are currently leading the race to sign Sporting CP’s 16-year old starlet, Sana Fernandes.
The Premier League champions are reportedly also joined by La Liga giants, Barcelona - who are queued up to secure the services of the highly-rated youngster.
Additionally, it has also been stated that interested clubs such as Pep Guardiola’s side are set to offer the teenage talent improved ‘conditions’ - which is believed to be a central reason as to why the sought-after talent is more inclined to depart the Portuguese giants in the near future.

Further details claim that Sporting could not ‘convince’ the gifted forward to commit his future to his boyhood club and his inevitable exit is considered a ‘big blow’ due to losing a player that could demand a pretty penny on a free transfer in the summer.
With finances set not to be a difference maker in which club is set to win the race to sign the teenager, it is believed that the team which manages to sign the Portuguese talent must present the ‘better argument’.
Considering Manchester City are one of the outright best teams in the world at present, it would not be a surprise to see them beat the likes of Barcelona in a tug-of-war to sign Sana Fernandes.
