Manchester City’s excellent recruitment has geared themselves up to defend their Premier League crown once again this season.
The club’s blockbuster signing in Erling Haaland has needed no time to settle into the side, bagging a stunning brace on his league debut against West Ham.
While the Norwegian international certainly made an incredible impression on Sunday, other new arrivals such as Julian Alvarez and Kalvin Phillips were also considered ready to be involved as options off the bench.

The former in particular looked lively during his late cameo at the London Stadium, as he was brought on to replace Haaland.
Pep Guardiola also fielded Kalvin Phillips late in the contest to operate as the side’s anchor, as Rodri was hauled off the pitch.
However, the Sky Blues continue to have somewhat of a crisis at left-back.

As things stand, Joao Cancelo remains the club’s only senior option that is capable of operating in what remains an unnatural position for the 27-year old.
Oleksandr Zinchenko joined Arsenal this summer, as Manchester City chose not to sign a replacement before the Ukrainian’s departure was confirmed.
While Marc Cucurella seemed destined to join the club, disagreements over the player’s valuation meant Chelsea swooped in to complete the Spaniard’s coup for a lofty initial fee of £55 million.
Despite recent revelations suggesting that the Premier League champions have decided not to send City-bound Sergio Gomez on loan to Girona, in favour of a first-team spot, it is understood that the club are still keen on signing a more experienced alternative.

Keeping that in mind, a new update has stated that Pep Guardiola’s side are assessing one of Europe’s most acclaimed left-backs.
As per a report by Sky Sports, Manchester City are keen on signing Raphaël Guerreiro from Borussia Dortmund.
It has also been mentioned that the Portuguese international is one of the many options that are being looked into by the club as potential incomings.

The 28-year old, who has made over 189 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, is known to be adept at also providing cover in midfield.
However, it is common knowledge that the former Benfica defender is extremely injury-prone, missing 15 games in all competitions as recently as last term as well.
While Raphaël Guerreiro fits the profile of player Manchester City could sign, it is expected that they will assess their options before deciding whether to go all in for the experienced left-back.
