Tom Bramall is the latest match official to join the prestigious Select Group One, after it was announced on Tuesday that the 32 year-old had been promoted to the Premier League.

Bramall, who has been officiating in the English Football League since 2014, took charge of 33 matches last season, showing a total of 105 yellow cards and six red cards.

The 32 year-old took charge of the FA Trophy Final between Bromley and Wrexham at Wembley last month, and becomes the fifth referee to be promoted to the Premier League in the past two seasons.

Manchester City’s latest Premier League title winning campaign had also marked the end of three refereeing careers, with referees Mike Dean, Martin Atkinson and Jon Moss having all retired at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Three new Assistant Referees have also been promoted to the Premier League ahead of the new season - Natalie Aspinall, Nick Greenhalgh and Steve Meredith are all joining the Select Group One panel of Assistant Referees.

Aspinall, who has been on the FIFA refereeing list for over a decade and has officiated FA Cup Finals and at the Women’s World Cup, is just the third female Assistant Referee in Premier League history.

Speaking about the promotion of four match officials to the Premier League, Mike Riley, Managing Director at the PGMOL, said that, “We're delighted to welcome Tom, Natalie, Nick and Steve into Select Group 1 for the 2022/23 season."

"This is a fully deserved and great opportunity for Tom, who has performed very well as he's progressed through the ranks over recent years and will now officiate at the top level of our game."

Riley continued, "Natalie, Nick and Steve are experienced assistant referees and have earned their place at this level. Natalie, who is a fantastic ambassador for English refereeing on the international stage, is the third female assistant referee to work in the Premier League and will work alongside her now Select Group 1 colleague Sian Massey-Ellis."

"Their promotions are recognition for not only their dedication and commitment but also their consistently-high standard of performances."

"We are sure they will all have a positive impact on Select Group 1 next season and we will continue to guide and support them as they establish themselves in the Premier League."
