Manchester City's Phil Foden has named the one player within Pep Guardiola's squad that he feels "goes unnoticed", despite his importance to the team and the overall system.
The England international has recently put pen to paper on a new and improved long-term deal with the Premier League champions.
While his future at his boyhood club was arguably never in any doubt, the stability that Foden now has in place will enable him to focus purely on his development and football at the Etihad Stadium.

In light of signing the three-year extension - which was announced by the club on Friday evening - Phil Foden spoke to the official website on a multitude of topics.
One such note that cropped in conversation was the importance of Spanish international Rodri to Pep Guardiola and Manchester City's system.
Speaking to ManCity.com, Phil Foden admitted that he feels the former Atletico Madrid man goes "unnoticed" at the Etihad Stadium, despite his vast importance to the way Manchester City play.

"I think it goes unnoticed with a player like Rodrigo and what he does for the team," Phil Foden opened.
"Because we have so many goal scorers, a player like him is so important."
He continued, "He breaks the play up, he’s so good on the ball. You can see his long range shooting is there as well so he’s so important for the team.

"He definitely helps all the players up the pitch play a lot better."
While Rodri's position in the Manchester City team is unquestioned, Phil Foden is more versatile and is often allowed to operate anywhere across the front-three.
Although wide positions have brought plenty of success in recent years, Foden also revealed in an interview that his preferred position is in midfield.
"At the moment I enjoy playing off the right and left. My preferred position is obviously midfield but, like I said, I can do those other jobs as well."

Foden continued, "It’s just nice to know I can play different positions as well and do a job for the team."
It is often that spirit of fighting for Manchester City in any position that has brought them widespread success over the years, and Phil Foden believes team spirit is hugely important to the club and the current squad.
"I think it’s massively important. If you put all the best players in a team, they’re not necessarily going to win.

"That togetherness when things aren’t going so well, how you fight for each other can be more important than anything else. I think our team definitely has that and it’s good."
