Manchester City are set to make a significant contractual announcement 'very soon', according to reports.
That announcement concerns the future of Phil Foden.
The Stockport-born attacking midfielder has been the poster boy of the modern era within the Manchester City academy, acting as a pillar for players coming through the ranks to aim for.

Foden is widely regarded to be the first major success story of the City Football Academy, with a number of exciting names following quickly in his footsteps.
The rapid rise of Manchester City's number 47 has also meant that his previously agreed to contractual terms have been very quickly outdated.
As such, negotiations over a new and improved deal have been ongoing for a number of months.

This week, a breakthrough has emerged, with an update on an official announcement from the club being provided in one particular report.
This is according to Martin Blackburn of The Sun, who firstly reports that Phil Foden has now agreed a new deal with Manchester City.
It is further stated that an official announcement from the club on the new deal is expected 'very soon'.

The report reveals that a new contract for Foden was on the brink of being signed 12 months ago, before the England international split from his agency at the end of 2021.
As suspected, all such issues have now been ironed out, allowing for negotiations and formalities to proceed smoothly.
Further reporting from James Ducker of The Telegraph reveals that Phil Foden will 'more than double his money' as part of his new agreement at the Etihad Stadium, taking his weekly salary up to £250,000 including bonuses.

Although it is yet to be confirmed, the report says that Foden's deal could tie him to Manchester City until at least 2028.
Back with competitive club duties, and Manchester City will be buoyed by the fact Foden returned to the club from international commitments unscathed.
Pep Guardiola and his players embark on a hectic October schedule, starting with the Manchester derby on Sunday afternoon.

Erik ten Hag's Manchester United side will be hoping to cause somewhat of an upset this weekend, although the hot form of the likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne makes it one of the greatest challenges in world football at present.
