Manchester City Forward Phil Foden Nearing Long-Term Contract Extension

Manchester City star Phil Foden is close to committing his long-term future to the Premier League champions, according to a new report.

Despite only being 22 years of age, there are many that believe that Phil Foden has the potential to become Manchester City’s greatest-ever player.

While some may perceive the bold claim as excessive, the youngster’s development into one of most key players in one of the best teams in Europe suggests that he’s a generational talent.

Since becoming a regular starter for Pep Guardiola's side at the back end of the 2019/20 season, the 'Stockport Iniesta’ has gone on to stake his claim as one of the finest young players in world football.

With the starlet being a four-time Premier League champion, a back-to-back PFA Player of the Year winner and an established England international at such a young age, it’s easy to see why his talent remains the talk of the town.

Foden has been linked with a fresh, long-term deal at this boyhood club since last year as Manchester City look to tie down one of their very own to an improved contract.

With Foden’s current deal set to expire in 2024, it would not be a surprise to discover that a number of Europe’s very elite were planning on making an audacious bid for the attacker.

However, a new report has suggested City academy graduate will soon put pen to paper and sign a lucrative deal at the Etihad Stadium.

According to the latest information provided by Graeme Bailey of 90min, Foden is close to signing a long-term contract with Manchester City till 2027.

Further details reveal that Foden is set to take home wages in excess of £200,00-a-week after signing on the dotted line.

The 22-year-old is also understood to have certain incentives in his upcoming contract, which will further boost his earnings and put him amongst the highest earners in east Manchester.

It has been revealed that while talks over a contract extension started as early as last summer, there was no consideration of a possible exit for Foden at City.

The Manchester City fan favourite is set to join the likes of Joao Cancelo, Rodri and most recently Riyad Mahrez into committing his long-term future to the six-time Premier League champions.
