Two goals in the final minutes of the second-leg tie in the Spanish capital took the game to extra-time, despite City originally taking the lead through a Riyad Mahrez strike.
It was then a Karim Benzema penalty that saw Real Madrid book their place in the Champions League final, where they ultimately went on to defeat Liverpool in Paris to claim the crown.
