Pep Guardiola’s daughters once asked the former Cardiff City boss, Neil Warnock to have their picture taken with them, it has been revealed.

Guardiola may be one of world football’s most exemplary managers, but that did not stop his daughters wanting to have their picture taken with Neil Warnock.

Manchester City had just thrashed Cardiff City in South Wales, in what was a ruthless display from the top flight team.

In an interview with the Happy Hour podcast, Warnock was discussing his experience with Pep Guardiola after a 5-0 defeat.

The former Cardiff and Sheffield United boss described Manchester City’s performance in South Wales as ‘amazing’ and was certainly not angry at his players, despite conceding five goals at home.

Warnock however claims he got the last laugh, when Pep Guardiola’s own daughters came over to him and asked for a picture.

“I think Pep Guardiola respects me," Warnock opened. "I think when we played them, I went in his office after,” he told the Happy Hour podcast.

“I think he was a bit annoyed at the time because his daughters wanted a picture with me and not him."

The encounter certainly seemed to give Neil Warnock the smile he needed, after his side were on the end of a thrashing by the Citizens.

In glowing praise for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, Warnock added, “His team, at the moment, over the last two years, are the best team I have ever seen in my lifetime.”

City came into the 2018/19 as reigning champions, having become the first team in Premier League history to accumulate 100 points in a single season, and went on to win back-to-back English top-flight titles.

“I’ve never seen anything like it," Warnock said. "I was at Cardiff City, and we played Man City and we were 0-0 after 25 minutes. We were playing really well.

"I was stood there on a lovely day, a typical football day with a little drizzle. And I’m thinking ‘wow, we are doing well’.

"And we go in at half-time 3-0 down. I couldn’t even fault the lads, because they were just amazing. They’ve moved football on so much so I really hope they win the Champions League.”

The Sheffield born manager announced his retirement from football management in April 2022, after 42 years as a football coach.

He oversaw 1500 games from the dug-out throughout his managerial career, so it is not hard to see why he is respected by coaches throughout English football.
