Shoulder surgery undertaken by Kalvin Phillips had left City short in defensive midfield, and saw Ilkay Gundogan fill in for Rodri on the weekend.
While Rodri may be eased back into the squad on Wednesday night to avoid any further problems, the return of the Spaniard ensures that the squad remains close to full compliment ahead of a hectic run of fixtures this month.
