Manchester City Defender Open To New Contract Despite Wide Interest Across Europe

Oleksandr Zinchenko is not agitating for a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, according to a new report.

Oleksandr Zinchenko remains open to agreeing a new deal with Manchester City ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a new report.

The Premier League champions are believed to be open to letting the 25-year-old leave if a suitable offer comes in, with interest rising in Zinchenko following an impressive end to the campaign for the Ukrainian.

Despite being a utility player for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, the four-time Premier League champion has been mainly used as a squad player at the Etihad Stadium and is understood to be open to the prospect of regular first-team football in midfield elsewhere.

With two years left on his current deal in Manchester, City will demand a sizeable fee for the Ukraine international, who joined the Premier League giants in 2016.

Since his arrival, Zinchenko has largely filled in at left-back though he has also been deployed by Pep Guardiola at times in midfield, where he has flourished playing for his country in recent years.

Whilst he remains happy at Manchester City, a series of clubs across Europe have registered their interest in Zinchenko, who could look to secure consistent minutes at a different club ahead of the new campaign.

As per a new report by Mark Douglas of iNews, Zinchenko is open to signing a new deal with Manchester City amid interest from Arsenal and West Ham.

Arsenal's interest is set to be concrete and would be an attractive move for the Ukrainian - as he would be guaranteed regular first-team football at the Emirates, with West Ham also monitoring his situation at the Etihad Stadium.

However, his camp believe he has justified the terms of his current deal and would be happy to hold talks over a new contract, whose terms would reflect his importance to the Manchester City squad and Pep Guardiola.

Having already brought in Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, Manchester City have been heavily linked with a swoop for Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella to solve their issues on the left side of defence.

Leeds United and England star Kalvin Phillips is believed to be Pep Guardiola's priority pick to replace outgoing skipper Fernandinho, with City set to formalise their interest in the midfielder after England's upcoming Nations League fixtures.

There remains uncertainty over Zinchenko's future in Manchester but it has to be said City will be keeping hold of a very valuable asset should they convince the Ukrainian to commit his long-term future to the Premier League champions.
