With transfer season now in full swing, lots of players - including youth prospects - are eying up where they could potentially be playing their football next season.

Typically, younger players forge their own path and either decide to stay and fight for a spot at their parent club, or move on in search of regular first-team football elsewhere.

In Manchester City's case, Phil Foden is a major success story from the ever-growing City Football Academy. He recently won his second consecutive Premier League Young Player of the Year award and is now a regular in Gareth Southgate's England setup.

However, like the case of Jadon Sancho, others have found moving to another club is the better step for their career, with the tricky winger now back in Manchester at cross-town rivals Manchester United.

This year, the Blues have seen the likes of Cole Palmer, James McAtee and CJ Egan-Riley all emerge and make their Premier League debuts - an outstanding achievement for a young player in this star-studded City squad.

As the new season ticks closer, the players in question will be pondering what is best for their fledgling careers next season, with a host of clubs lining up to take them on loan.

One of them, in particular, will be James McAtee, with James Ducker from the Telegraph reporting the Salford-born midfielder is attracting 'considerable loan interest'.

After signing a three-year contract extension a few months ago, it is clear to see the 19-year-old believes his long-term future is at the Etihad, but Pep Guardiola may be tempted to let one of his most promising talents experience senior football to the fullest before trusting him in his high-intensity City side.
