Luke Mbete is closing in on a loan move to Huddersfield Town.
The summer of 2022 has seen a number of Manchester City’s most high-profile youngsters depart the club out on loan.
For instance, James McAtee, who was tipped for a place in the first-team this season has joined Sheffield United for the remainder of the campaign.

Similarly, another one of the side’s prodigies in Liam Delap has signed for his father, Rory Delap’s former club, Stoke City on a season-long loan.
Issa Kabore, who has been touted as a future right-back at City has headed to Marseille on a temporary basis, with a €20 million option to buy included in the deal.
Other big names include the likes of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle and Yan Couto, who joined Burnley, Sheffield United and Girona on loan respectively.

However, a gifted young player whose future is yet to be resolved is Luke Mbete.
Impressing at the heart of the Elite Development Squad’s (EDS) defence, the teenager has proven that there are not many better centre-backs than him at youth level.
However, the 18-year old is possibly City’s fifth-choice centre-back, with Nathan Ake, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Ruben Dias all ahead of him in the pecking order.
With his chances of getting regular first-team minutes for Pep Guardiola’s side looking far from likely, several fans have discussed how a loan spell would be key in advancing the highly-rated defender’s career.

A new update has now suggested that a club may be willing to sign the youngster on a temporary basis for the 2022/23 campaign.
As per a report by Richard Sutcliffe of The Athletic, Luke Mbete is expected to sign for Huddersfield Town on loan from Manchester City.
Further details suggest that the former Brentford talent is understood to have returned to England on Friday, after undergoing treatment in Spain, after a nasty clash of heads with Andreas Christensen in City’s recent friendly against Barcelona.

It is reported that Mbete may well have already signed for Huddersfield, with an official confirmation pending.
The Championship side eye the Sky Blues defender as a replacement for Matty Pearson, who is suffering a long-term injury.
It is believed that the club hope that the England U19 international can replicate the success of Chelsea starlet Levi Colwill, who shone for the Terriers during his loan stint last season.
Ultimately, a spell out on loan will only help Luke Mbete acclimatise to senior football and stake a claim at a first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium.
