Kalvin Phillips made a late decision to hand over negotiations connected to his transfer to Manchester City to an agency, a new report has detailed.
In a new trend, many professional footballers are using lawyers to negotiate transfer and new contracts, as well as their own judgement as opposed to the use of representative agencies and football agents.
Manchester City vice-captain Kevin De Bruyne is known to have negotiated his most recent deal with the Etihad club individually, with the helping hand of a legal team.

Raheem Sterling is also known to be representing himself in talks with Manchester City and interested clubs, while he takes additional time to seek the best route moving forward.
This week, Kalvin Phillips has been putting the final touches to his big-money move from Leeds United to Manchester City.
It was reported last weekend that the two Premier League sides had reached an agreement over an initial £42 million transfer fee, with the potential for £3 million in add-ons - taking the total potential expense of the deal to £45 million.

On Friday, Phillips returned from his holiday to undergo his Manchester City medical tests.
It is also understood that the player then completed his various media duties with the club's in-house media team, including various photoshoots and interviews which will form the social media campaign around his official unveiling.
While some expect the reveal of the midfielder to come this weekend, it is more likely that the announcement will come early next week.
However, a new report has detailed the late changes that occurred in the Kalvin Phillips camp to get a deal over the line.

According to the information of Matt Hughes of the Daily Mail, the 26 year-old made a late decision to choose Stellar Sports to negotiate the deal with Manchester City on his behalf.
The ICM Stellar Sports team - which features Jonathan Barnett and David Manasseh - also represents Manchester City star Jack Grealish, and aided negotiations between the reigning Premier League champions and Aston Villa to reach a £100 million agreement last summer.
Ultimately, the agency got Kalvin Phillips' deal over the line.
The England international is expected to link-up with his new Manchester City teammates around July 11th, and travel with the club to the United States for their pre-season tour.
