While a number of Manchester City’s most prodigious youngsters have headed out on loan, it has puzzled many why Issa Kabore’s future has been up in the air.
During the 2020/21 season, the 21 year-old was regarded as one of Ligue 1’s best right-backs during his stint at City Football Group-owned ESTAC Troyes.
Making 26 starts for the French outfit, Issa Kabore instantly became one of the side’s most vital players.
The highly-rated defender even managed to replicate his incredible ceiling at the international stage for Burkina Faso.

The Manchester City starlet was rightly recognised as the Best Young Player at the Africa Cup of Nations.
It seems as if a club has finally done their due diligence and taken note of the waves made by the young prospect, as a major update has emerged about his immediate future.
It has been confirmed that Issa Kabore has now joined Olympique Marseille on a season-long loan.

Interestingly, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that there is a €20 million buy-option as a part of the deal.
Furthermore, it is also highlighted that the Premier League champions also have a buy back clause in place.
Much like in the cases of Gavin Bazunu and Romeo Lavia for whom buy back clauses have been included, it is clear to see that the Sky Blues can also envision the Burkinabe defender as a future first-team player.
However, the buy option that has been included seemingly stems from the fact that at present, the club have arguably two of the world’s best right-backs in Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo.

As a result, it is virtually impossible for a majority of players in the same position to displace the seasoned pair, let alone a young buck such as Kabore.
However, Walker turned 32 this year, which does open the door for the unearthed gem to be brought into the side as a successor one day.
With Issa Kabore set to gain even more experience in playing in one of the most physical leagues in Europe in Ligue 1 and now making a massive step-up to potential title challengers in Marseille, the loan spell could do wonders for his development.
