The Government has issued fresh advice to the Premier League after Buckingham Palace confirmed details for the State Funeral for Her Majesty The Queen.
This weekend, Manchester City against Tottenham Hotspur - alongside all other English top-flight games - was postponed, following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Confirming the postponement of Premier League fixtures this weekend, a statement from the English top-flight read:

"At a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
"To honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed, including Monday evening’s game."
Richard Masters, Premier League Chief Executive, said as part of the official statement: “We and our clubs would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty’s long and unwavering service to our country.

"As our longest-serving monarch, she has been an inspiration and leaves behind an incredible legacy following a life of dedication.
"This is a tremendously sad time for not just the nation but also for the millions of people around the world who admired her, and we join together with all those in mourning her passing.”
"Further updates regarding Premier League fixtures during the period of mourning will be provided in due course."
Now, as confirmed by the Royal Family and Buckingham Palace, the State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 1100hrs BST.
In light of the confirmed details, the Government have issued fresh advice to sport - including the Premier League.

As per Rob Harris of Sky, the advice is as follows:
"As a mark of respect, organisations might wish to consider cancelling or postponing events or closing venues on the day of the State Funeral."
As such, this will give hope to many about the possible resuming of Premier League football next weekend.

At present, there is a complete programme on offer, with no games scheduled for the Monday.
Elsewhere, decisions have already been made on the status of Manchester City's upcoming Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.
As confirmed on Friday evening, it has been confirmed that the match will take place as scheduled on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium.
