Highly-rated Brazilian Yan Couto is to return on loan to Girona next season.
Coming off the back of a fruitful loan spell at Braga, there were some that felt that Yan Couto could be set for a first-team spot next term.
Considering Joao Cancelo’s sparkling displays at left-back last season, many felt that the 20-year old could serve as an understudy to Kyle Walker.

With the latter turning 32 in May earlier this year, the highly-rated right-back could well have been brought into the side in order to be prepared to succeed the Englishman’s throne one day.
Making the cut alongside Cole Palmer in the 80-man shortlist in contention to win the 2022 Golden Boy award, it is clear to see that City have a generational talent in their ranks.
However, it seems as if Couto’s time to shine at the Etihad Stadium is anything but imminent.

It was claimed that the Curitiba-born youngster had informed Txiki Begiristain of his desire to sever ties with Manchester City.
Additionally, it was claimed that the prodigious defender was focused on leaving the Premier League Champions in an amicable manner.

According to a statement via Girona’s official website, Yan Couto has joined the club on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
The in-demand right-back is set to begin his second loan spell in Catalonia, after spending the entirety of the 2020/21 campaign with the side.
City’s sister club have secured promotion back to La Liga next season, which is a major step-up for a club that has been on the rise since the City Football Group's takeover in 2017.
