Since Erling Haaland officially became a Manchester City player earlier this summer, fans were salivating at the prospect of him linking up with Phil Foden.
The excitement was understandable, considering one of Europe’s finest young goalscorers and creators were set to share the same pitch.
Furthermore, the pair are known to be boyhood Manchester City fans, which made their potential partnership all the more a thing of beauty for the supporter base.

However, things got off to a rocky start against AFC Bournemouth, as Foden opted not to square the ball to Haaland from close quarters.
Instead, the England international went for goal and ended up missing the chance as the latter was visibly frustrated.
The Norwegian striker could not have scored an easier goal during his time at Manchester City had the two-time PFA Young Player of the Year decided to set him up.
Phil Foden received pelters from fans of all clubs online, with many accusing him of being selfish instead of taking the right option.

Against Newcastle as well, the Stockport-born attacker had a promising opportunity to slip through Erling Haaland once again.
Instead, he continued to carry the ball forward before going for goal, in an attempt that was saved by Nick Pope.
The former Borussia Dortmund marksman seemed to be up in arms once again, as the Sky Blues’ number 47 received yet more criticism.
However, the pair finally combined for Manchester City’s equaliser against Crystal Palace last weekend, as Foden put in an inch-perfect cross to set up Haaland, who headed the ball into the back of the net.

After the Premier League champions’ brilliant comeback victory, as Erling Haaland bagged a hat-trick in a 4-2 win, he made a tongue-in-cheek comment about Phil Foden’s assist.
“Finally, Phil Foden played the ball to me.
"It's a really good feeling, this."

He continued, "We played for each other, we played together and that's really good.
"We don't care who scores, it's about winning and the winning mentality.”
With Foden and Haaland finally looking in sync on the pitch, this may just be the start of an incredibly productive relationship between the pair.
While the former RB Salzburg man may have been miffed by his teammate before the clash against Palace, that is simply testament to his appetite for scoring goals at all times.
