A handful of Manchester City players will shortly be heading to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup.

The tournament, which is controversially taking place in the Winter, begins on Sunday 20th November, when hosts Qatar face Ecuador in the opening fixture.

The Premier League will pause for over a month after Matchweek 16, with the Sky Blues' final fixture coming against Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 12th November.

Manchester City's league campaign will resume on Wednesday 28th November, when the Premier League Champions travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United.

The Blues will be hoping to bounce back into form when they do return to action, with top six meetings with Chelsea and Manchester United in the New Year.

City are set to be well represented in the Middle East, with some players even set to potentially come up against one another.

Spain and due to face Germany in a mouthwatering Group E clash on November 27th.

Switzerland are also scheduled to come up against Brazil on November 28th.

England will be come up against Iran, Wales and the USA in their World Cup Group, with up to five City stars to potentially be selected by Gareth Southgate.

Not all members of Guardiola's squad will be going to the Middle East, with star striker Erling Haaland one player who is set to get a period of rest.

According to the City manager, members of his side who aren’t featuring in Qatar will be given a period of leave, before returning to the City Football Academy for training ahead of the restart to the season.

"Maybe 10 days, two weeks go away on holiday with his family, then two weeks to reignite our rhythm before we come back after the World Cup," said Guardiola during a press conference last month.

“This is the first time in our lives this happened so we don’t know how players will come back from the World Cup.

"If six come back as champions they will be very happy, or they could come back depressed.

"Some may get knocked out early and have holidays. But loads of players will miss the World Cup because of the insane fixtures. We will see when they come back, we will smell it then the routine on a daily basis will adapt."

As the start of the tournament looms, here are all the Manchester City players chosen to represent their countries at the World Cup in Qatar this Winter.
