Chelsea have agreed to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for a deal worth £47.5 million, according to a new report.

The west London club have been heavily linked with a swoop for Sterling, who has expressed a desire to leave the Etihad Stadium for regular first-team football.

Thomas Tuchel is believed to have held positive talks with the 27-year-old over his potential role at Stamford Bridge.

After agreeing personal terms with Chelsea, Sterling was believed to be edging closer to parting ways with the Premier League champions, who have signed Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez ahead of the new season.

According to a new report by David Ornstein of The Athletic, Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for a fixed amount of £47.5 million, with no further add-ons.

It is understood Chelsea are working through logistics to organise a medical for Sterling in London, with the forward set to join the Blues on their pre-season tour to the United States if all goes to plan.

Sterling will follow Gabriel Jesus through the exit door after the latter joined Arsenal for £45 million earlier this week.

The Englishman won four Premier League titles during his time in Manchester, playing a key role in City's success under Pep Guardiola.

As he enters the final 12 months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, Raheem Sterling has decided to take up a new challenge and Chelsea appear to have won the race for the winger's signature.

After holding talks with Pep Guardiola, Sterling is understood to have decided the time is right to move on from City for regular minutes.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has identified the Kingston-born star as a priority attacking target as part of his summer rebuild.

A disappointing campaign on and off the pitch in west London saw Chelsea offload record signing Romelu Lukaku on a season-long loan to Inter less than 12 months after bringing the Belgian to Stamford Bridge.

Sterling will bolster Chelsea's frontline - an area of Tuchel's squad that failed to produce the goods at various points of the past season.

With Haaland and Alvarez already in through the door, Pep Guardiola is set to lose Sterling to a direct title rival, who beat his side in the 2021 Champions League final.

Manchester City will soon jet off to the United States for pre-season before returning to England later this month to face Liverpool in the Community Shield at the King Power Stadium.
