Vincent Kompany's Burnley Targets THIRD Manchester City Loan Signing This Summer

If there is one position where Manchester City certainly have no worries going into the 2022/23 season, it is in the goalkeeping department.

For starters, Ederson has earned the Golden Glove in the last two Premier League campaigns, which is a reward for his enviable consistency in between the sticks.

Aside from that, the Brazilian’s blend of pin-point distribution and pro-active sweeping makes him the ideal number one in a Pep Guardiola side.

With Stefan Ortega coming off the back of an impressive personal campaign for Arminia Bielefeld, the Sky Blues perhaps have secured the services of a back-up shot-stopper that would start for a majority of teams in the English top-flight.

As a result, it is reasonable to question where this leaves Arijanet Muric in his quest to become a consistent first-team player at the Etihad Stadium one day.

Joining the club as a teenager, the Kosovan international was always touted to be Manchester City’s future first-choice goalkeeper.

Despite making five senior appearances for the Premier League champions in the League Cup, the 23-year old has spent a chunk of his time away from the side on loan.

While stints at sides such as NAC Breda, Nottingham Forest, Girona, Willem II and Adana Demirspor have proved how talented Arijanet Muric is, his chances of commanding a starting place in East Manchester remain improbable currently.

However, new details have emerged that reveal that the highly-rated operator may be reunited with familiar faces on a fresh adventure next season.

As per a report by David Ornstein of the Athletic, Vincent Kompany’s Burnley are ‘keen’ on signing Arijanet Muric on a permanent basis.

However, it has been emphasised that as things stand, there is no agreement between the Premier League champions and the Championship side to complete the player’s move.

The Kosovan international could join the likes of now-former Manchester City defender CJ Egan-Riley and club loanee Taylor Harwood-Bellis at Turf Moor in the coming season, alongside the current Clarets boss.

Jack Gaughan of the Mail has also revealed that Aro Muric and Vincent Kompany are known to have been ‘quite close’ during their shared time in the North-West.

Interestingly, it has also been suggested that apart from Burnley, other clubs have also queued up for his signature.

Ornstein had mentioned that Adana Demirspor - the club which Muric played for on loan last season - are also eyeing a permanent deal for the FA Cup champion.

In addition, Gaughan stated that an unnamed Championship outfit and various other teams in Turkey are interested in the goalkeeper’s services in the summer.

It is likely that Arijanet Muric targets an exit as a blossoming career in net for Manchester City looks set not to be on the cards for him anytime soon.

Elsewhere, it seems as if Southampton and Manchester City have now reached an agreement for the sale of Romeo Lavia for £10 million - potentially rising to £14 million.
