Jake Paul now owes Mike Tyson $5 million as details of extraordinary bet made between both fighters emerges

Jake Paul now owes Mike Tyson $5 million as details of extraordinary bet made between both fighters emerges

The fallout from the historic fight continues...

Jake Paul ‘owes’ Mike Tyson $5m following their bout on November 15.

Paul, 27, fought Tyson, 58, in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys’ stadium as he eased to a convincing unanimous decision points victory - the judges scored the contest 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

Unfortunately for him, Tyson could not roll back the years in Arlington, Texas, but still claimed that even getting in the ring was a victory after suffering from health issues recently.

Paul showed the 58-year-old some respect by bowing to him in the final round of the contest despite receiving a slap to the face during Thursday’s weigh-in.

According to the reports, both fighters were handsomely paid for their 16 minutes in the ring, with talkSPORT reporting that Tyson was set to earn $20m (£15.8m) for his efforts.

At the same time, Paul was reportedly picking up an eyewatering $40m (£31.4m).

However, Tyson could be set for a bonus despite clearly not being short of cash. A video has emerged online [via Happy Punch] of Paul speaking ahead of the fight.

“Mikey, Mikey, if you can last more than four rounds with me, I’ll give you an extra $5m,” Paul said while placing mimic banknotes on his himself.

“But, if you don’t…then you have to get a tattoo that says, ‘I love Jake Paul,’” he added.

Of course, whether this was a serious offer or simply a throwaway remark is still yet to be seen.

Tyson lasted the full eight rounds, but the ‘Problem Child’ admitted that he never really had true intentions of hurting his opponent.

“I tried to give the best fight I possibly could, but when someone’s just surviving in the ring, it’s hard to make it exciting,” said Paul after the bout.

“I couldn’t really get him to engage me or slip shots and do something super cool or whatever.

“I don’t care what people have to say. They’re always going to have something to say. It is what it is.”

The future for both fighters is still unclear, but Paul has already seemingly set his sights on a MMA fight with Conor McGregor – he called the Irishman out on social media on Saturday.
