Gabby Logan stuns viewers with expletive phrase to describe Team USA's Olympic relay drama

Team USA were disqualified from the men’s 4x100m relay final.

BBC presenter Gabby Logan left viewers stunned after using an expletive phrase to describe the USA men’s 4x100m relay team.

On Friday evening, the Olympic 4x100m relay races took place at the Stade de France.

In the women’s event, Team USA won gold ahead of Great Britain and Germany.

Heading into the men’s race, the American quartet of Christian Coleman, Kenny Bednarek, Kyree King and Fred Kerley were the hot favourites despite the absence of Noah Lyles, who tested positive with COVID-19 earlier in the week.

However, it all went wrong for Team USA in the first change between Coleman and Bednarek, with the latter having to nearly stop completely to receive the baton.

As a result, Team USA were left well behind and ended up crossing the line in seventh place and were later disqualified as the first exchange happened outside the handoff zone.

Speaking after the race, BBC’s Logan branded the handover as an ‘absolute c**k up’.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Is Gabby Logan allowed to call the issues in the relay for Team USA an absolute c**k up?”

Another tweeted: “Did Gabby Logan just describe the USA handover as a 'c**k-up' on BBC or did I mishear?”

SPORTbible has contacted the BBC for comment.

The race was eventually won by Canada, followed by South Africa and Team GB.

Speaking after the race, Coleman told reporters: “Obviously we all are going to be hard on ourselves. And track and field is an individual sport so we do our own thing in sprinting. So when we come together as a team, that's the fun part of it.

“Obviously, it's a little disappointing, especially for America, because we wanted to do it, we wanted to bring it home, we knew we had the speed to do it.”

He added: “It just didn't happen, but we're human beings too. We've been through ups and downs in life.

“This is another one of those times where we've got to just keep our heads down and keep pushing.”
