Noah Lyles' damning response to being asked if Canada are a threat in the Olympic 4x100m relay resurfaces

Noah Lyles' interview didn't age too well.

The damning response Noah Lyles gave when asked about Canada's chances in the Olympic 4x100m has resurfaced on social media.

Noah Lyles is certainly not afraid to back himself, but when it came to the men's 100m at the Paris Olympics, he did his talking on the track too.

The American star took gold by five-thousandths of a second in arguably the greatest men's Olympic 100m of all-time.

However, Lyles was made to look a little silly when he came bounding onto the track for the 200m final on Thursday, only to finish third and taken away in a wheelchair.

After the race it was revealed that the 27-year-old was suffering with Covid-19, and as a result he was not fit to represent Team USA in the 4x100m relay on Friday evening.

In Lyles' absence, the USA had a nightmare race with a botched batton handover resulting in disqualification.

Canada stormed home to victory, with Andre De Grasse running the final leg to claim gold.

While there is a healthy rivalry between American and Canadian athletes, Lyles perhaps took things a little far just a few months ago.

At the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas back in May, the US took gold ahead of Canada in the men's 4x100m relay, winning by 0.49 seconds.

When a reporter asked Lyles if he thought Canada would pose a threat in the 4x100m relay at the Paris Games, the star wasn't exactly complimentary about his team's rivals. In fact, he didn't even acknowledge them.

The reporter asked if he was looking forward to the rivalry with Canada in Paris, to which Lyles replied: "Who?"

When the reporter repeated "Canada", Lyles against said: "Who?".

Lyles' teammates realised he was joking around and burst out laughing, but they certainly weren't laughing inside the Stade de France on Friday.

Meanwhile, the USA did win gold in the women's 4x100m relay.
