Noah Lyles had strict dating rule and would cut off relationship if they did thing he 'hates' on first date

Noah Lyles had strict dating rule and would cut off relationship if they did thing he 'hates' on first date

The 100m Olympic champion is now engaged but mentioned the character trait which would not lead to a second date.

Noah Lyles once revealed the strict rule he abided by when he was on the dating scene which meant there would be no second date for some potential suitors.

The sprinter became an Olympic champion last year at Paris 2024 when he triumphed in the men's 100m event after running a personal best time of 9.784 seconds.

Lyles also won bronze in the men's 200m event behind Botswana's Letsile Tebogo and fellow American Kenny Bednarek.

The 27-year-old also won a bronze medal in the 200m at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, and will be seeking to defend his 100m title on home soil in Los Angeles in 2028.

He will also no doubt be seeking to become a double Olympic champion at LA 2028, and also has world record times in his sights.

His best time in the 100m of 9.79 seconds is behind the 9.58 seconds set by Usain Bolt in 2009.

And Lyles has run a 19.31 seconds in the 200m, which is the third fastest time in history and trails Bolt's time which he set in 2009 of 19.19 seconds.

Last year in mid-October, Lyles became engaged after he popped the question to fellow Olympian Junelle Bromfield, a Jamaican sprinter who won a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay at Tokyo 2020.

But speaking a few years ago, Lyles revealed a 'red flag' when he was in the dating game that would end a relationship in its tracks during the early stages.

The sprinter explained that when speaking to somebody on a date and it came to discussing somebody's passion or talent and they could not provide an answer, that would be the end of the courtship.

Speaking on his own YouTube channel to his sports therapist Diana McNab in an episode of Sprint Talk, Lyles said: "I hate this one is when somebody will tell me 'I'm not good at anything else'.

"When I was in the dating world and I would talk to somebody and I said 'what is your talent, what do you love to do?'

"And they would say 'I don't have any talent'. OK, this is our last conversation. I'll check you later."

Lyles has recently been in track action in Massachusetts at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix and stormed to victory in the 60m sprint with a season-best time of 6.52 seconds and is the fourth consecutive time he has claimed the title at the event.
