A high school track athlete 'died in their twin's arms' after being fatally stabbed at a championship meet.
Austin Metcalf, a junior athlete at Frisco ISD's Memorial High School in Texas, was fatally stabbed at a track and field championship event on April 2.
He was a member of the track and field team and also played American football as a linebacker.
His father, Jeff Metcalf, claimed to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth that an argument broke out in the stands between his son and another student over a seat.
It is alleged that the other student was told he was sitting in the wrong seat, before he then is alleged to have stabbed Metcalf in the chest.
The 17-year-old's twin brother saw the events unfold and attempted to aid Metcalf but he sadly passed away at the scene.
The father explained: "They were twins, identical twins. And his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother's arms.
"I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it's God's plan, I don't understand it, but they weren't able to save him.
"This is murder."
The suspect was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Frisco Police stated: "On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 10:00am, Frisco Police and Fire responded to an incident at a track meet in the 6900 block of Stadium Lane.
"An altercation between two students resulted in one stabbing the other.
"Despite lifesaving measures by police and fire personnel, including CPR and the administration of blood, the 16-year-old victim died.
"The suspect is in custody and there is no further threat to the public. He has been charged with murder, a 1st degree Felony."
