Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has expressed his surprise to see Tottenham Hotspur land Brighton star Yves Bissouma for £25 million after ordering his former club to sign the midfielder.
The Gunners have been in the market in search of bolstering their midfield options but are yet to leave their mark in this summer’s transfer window.
Names such as Youri Tielemans of Leicester City and Brighton’s Bissouma have followed Arsenal around the rumour mill, with both thought to be affordable pick-ups with just a year left on their respective contracts.

Spurs have moved the quickest, however, striking a £25-million-deal with their fellow Premier League outfit Brighton to bring Bissouma to the opposing side of North London, despite speculation linking the Mali international with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Shortly after finding out the length of Bissouma’s current deal and the fee agreed by Spurs, Parlour revealed on talkSPORT that he had recommended the Premier League star to his former club Arsenal.
“I said to Arsenal a long, long time ago to sign Bissouma,” Parlour said, as he weighed in on the Spurs deal.
Prior to the agreement, Bissouma had been very receptive to the rumours and calls for him to join the Gunners, deemed his boyhood club, on social media.

The 25-year-old flirted with the idea of joining Mikel Arteta’s side by reposting stories on Instagram of Arsenal fans calling on the club to snap the all-action midfielder up.
Despite the hints, however, Arsenal seem more convinced by the prospect of landing Tielemans, as Bissouma nears the official announcement of his transfer to Spurs.
