Arsenal have today confirmed the signing of Fabio Vieira. The Portuguese midfielder signs for five years from FC Porto, for a fee thought to be in the region of £34m. He will wear the number 21.
Rumours appeared from out of the blue last week when sudden reports of Arsenal agreeing a fee for the 22-year-old emerged from Portugal. As quickly as the story had come out, Vieira was on a plane to England. He passed his medical and signed his contract over the weekend.
Vieira is thought to be among the best talents coming out of Portugal and is captain of the U21 Portugal national team. He didn't secure his place in the starting XI at Porto last season until later in the season but despite this, he finished the Primeira Liga season with six goals and 14 assists.

While Vieira's natural position is in the attacking-midfield position, he has experience playing in a number of positions including both sides of central-midfield and right-wing. No matter where Mikel Arteta chooses to use him, he will certainly add depth and competition to Arsenal's attack which is exactly what it needs.
Arteta has reportedly been a fan of Vieira for months and pushed the club to make his signing this summer. He is Arsenal's second signing of the summer and one of many on the Arsenal boss' hit-list this summer.

Raphinha, Lisandro Martinez, Youri Tielemans and Gabriel Jesus could all follow in the next weeks if reports are to be believed.
Arsenal are looking to stock their squad with talent and depth this summer in a bid to bridge the gap to the top teams and Arsenal fans will be very excited to see how this summer progresses.
