Soon to be Arsenal star Matt Turner has already began to endear himself to the Gunners faithful, snubbing a Tottenham fan asking for his signature.
Across the Atlantic, the American has been in immense form in recent times, culminating in being named the MLS All Star MVP in 2021. That form continued off the pitch as he made sure to show those across the pond where his allegiances lay, signing Arsenal shirts before snubbing a shirt held by a Tottenham fan.

The American joins the Gunners looking to displace Aaron Ramsdale as no.1, however, he is under no illusions as to the difficulty of the task ahead of him. When quizzed about Ramsdale being the better keeper, he said:
"I'd agree with it for now. I'm coming in to push him and become the best goalkeeper I can become, while also making him the best goalkeeper he can become. That's really my goal for it all."
With Bernd Leno expected to leave the club this summer, the 27-year-old will expect to compete for that starting berth, and no doubt appear in cup competitions this coming season. The United States international will be hoping to use that as a springboard to dislodge Ramsdale, who himself was in a precarious run of form towards the end of the season.
A major obstacle for the shot-stopper however, is his ball-playing capabilities, a feature of Ramsdale’s game and Arteta’s philosophy, however Turner is adamant he can improve that aspect of his game:

"Definitely, the DNA of this team is possession-based and I believe that's what they will expect from me when I get on the pitch. "It's the area of my game that some call a weakness but one where I've improved over the past few months. I'm connecting a few more passes, reading the game better and understanding the way I can hurt teams a lot better.
Heading into the new season, the performances of the pitch will be what matters most, however, off the pitch actions to warm to the hearts of the Gunners faithful will certainly do Turner’s chances no harm.
Turner is expected to have his Arsenal medical later this week as he completes a switch from New England Revolution.
